"Death is nothing,
I have simply crossed over to the other side.
I am me,
you are you.
What we were for each other, we are still.
Give me the name you have always given me.
Speak to me like you have always done.
Don't use a different tone,
Don't be solemn or sad.
Keep laughing at what made us laugh together...
Smile. Think of me, smile with me.
Say my name at home,
like it has always been said,
without any empashis at all,
without traces of shadow.
Life signifies what it has always signified.
It is what it has always been:
the cord is not cut.
Why should I be out of your thoughts,
just because I am out of your sight?
I am not far.
Just on the other side of the road.
You see? All is well.
You will find my heart again."

- Charles Peguy (translated and slightly altered)

This website was designed by Robin, and he was working on it in the months before he died.

Since his death, I've worked to complete the site to be as true to his original vision as possible. The photo captions are almost entirely his words, although for much of the "Civil Unrest" gallery in the East Timor section, I have filled in the details, as they only became clear afterwards.

Robin left behind him an extraordinary collection of work, and I hope to keep adding from it to this website, in time. His incredible talent as a photographer was surpassed perhaps only by his energy, his love of life, and his compassion towards the people he photographed. Not to mention his multitude of adventurous dreams, and his somewhat unorthodox sense of humour!

But there is no point in trying to sum up Robin with words. Instead, he is present here, in his photographs. Fleeting images, tiny details of the tapestry of life, stories that he sought out to tell to the world.

I hope his work inspires you as it, and he, inspires all those of us he leaves behind.

Until next time my love.

- Bree
